The Alabama Board of Genetic Counseling portal allows you to renew your professional Genetic Counseling License.

The first license renewal season will open on or about July 1, 2023.  https://agcb-renew.kalmservices.net/

When logging in, please place a space between GC and the license number.

CE HOURS ARE REQUIRED TO RENEW THIS YEAR, IF YOU HAVE HELD A GC LICENSE FOR 12 months or longer. You will be required to upload those CE hours during the online renewal process, as well as your ABGC accreditation.

405-X-3-.01. Continuing Education Requirements.
Currentness
(1) Licensed genetic counselors must comply with the following continuing education rules as a prerequisite to licensure
renewal.
(2) For each 12-month period an individual holds a genetic counselor license, the genetic counselor must complete 1.25
continuing education units (category 1 or 2) or twelve and one half (12.5) contact hours approved for recertification purposes
by the ABGC prior to renewing the license.
(3) The Board may waive or otherwise modify the requirements of this rule in cases where there is retirement, or an illness,
disability or other undue hardship that prevents a licensee from obtaining the requisite number of continuing education hours.
Requests for waivers or modification must be sent in writing to the Board's administrative office prior to the expiration of the
renewal period in which the continuing education is due.

Your license will expire on October 1, 2023.

Once your renewal has been approved, your renewed license will be mailed to you within 7-10 days of the day you renewed online.

Renewals are considered late beginning October 2nd and a late fee of $100.00 will be accessed.

No License will be renewed if it has been expired for more than 60 days.

Renewal of Genetic Counselor license. License must be renewed every ODD year - $300 (your renewed license will now be valid for 2 years and won’t renew again until 2025.)

Late Renewal Late fee applied on October 1st through November 30th - $400
